Billy Joe Saunders, 26-0-0, fresh from a career best performance against big puncher David Lemieux, will face four-time world title challenger Martin Murray, 36-4-1, in a domestic clash on April 14th. Murray brings an all-actions style and will look to make the fight a tear up whilst Billy Joe’s slick skills saw him nullify David Lemieux’s power and pressure in December.
Murray’s 2017 saw him fighting and winning twice against Gabriel Rosado and Arman Torosyan, both in Liverpool. This world title attempt will more than likely be his last and that importance will surely not be lost on the man from Merseyside.
The co-feature for this show sees Terry Flanagan, 33-0-0, with the chance to become a two-weight world champion by facing Maurice Hooker, 23-0-3, for the vacant WBO World Super Lightweight Title. Flanagan recently moved up in weight after failing to secure the big fights at lightweight, namely with fellow Brit Anthony Crolla. Hooker’s most notable opponent to date is Darleys Perez with whom he share a split draw with in late 2016.
Venue and ticket details will be announced next week.
